Well the engineer has been and told us that the router they supplied are rubbish and we need to buy a new one. He told me VM don't supply them any more as they have a new hub that the modem and router in one but they aren't worth having either. A lot of use that was then.
NTL/VM used to provide a branded wireless router made by Actiontec,they caused us a hell of a lot of problems & were a one-off purchase by the customer.
Going by the medium of what we got then,I'd say the Service Tech you had come out is spot on.

Why oh why do people play with technology that they do not understand and then complain.
ISP + MODEM + ROUTER = Computer.
99.9999999999% it is the fault of the router, you can usually buy a decent one for £30.0
