Tesco 99p rubber car mats for icy roads!

I just wanted to mention that I helped a colleague out of the staff car park today when her wheels were spinning on the compacted ice.

I have 2 of the Tesco Value rubber car mats (99p each) which I had cut in half long ways. They have a good spiked back to them and when pushed under each of the 4 car wheels helped to get the car moving off the ice. They don't cost much or take up any room in the boot!

  • Some pieces of old carpet may also do the job.
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • An even better job would be done by the company gritting their car park.

Unless it is a 4 wheel drive car surely you only need two?
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

I agree but the local public would be complaining to have to pay towards the staff car being gritted on a daily basis... as I work in a school.

It was the staff who went in and cleared the snow/ice to be able to open up the school again. The footpaths in the streets around the school are still ice-packed.
