Turned down by RBS & NATWEST

I have been turned down by RBS and NATWEST for a Current Account due to my bad credit, but would I be accepted for a Savings account as the NATWEST First Reserve Savings comes with a Visa Debit card.

A point to note is I get accepted for the Current Account online, but seem to get declined by the Applications Verification Unit (AVU) after I return the paperwork, but not sure if I would get declined if it was just a savings account or do the AVU still get involved ?.

Why not apply for a Key (RBS) Account or a Step (NatWest) Account?
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

If you have been declined by AVU, then I think you'll find it virtually impossibe to get any account with Natwest/RBS. There is obviously something flagging up on your records that they dont like. I would try another bank if I were you
Debt free and staying that way!

Got declined for a Key Account with RBS (Must be bad - Although that was about a year ago), but got a online Savings account with them (Odd), but I really want card access. I do have accounts elsewhere but wanted a separate savings account to put my Holiday savings for next year in.

RBS and Natwest are part of the same banking group. So if one doesn't like you I'm not surprised the other doesn't as banks share information across their banking group.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

Dannyd - I got a savings account with Natwest and yes the Reserve savings account comes with a Visa debit card (Blue coloured card)
Natwest was in my bankruptcy, only a small amount as it was an overdraft I had with them!
But got the savings account (Reserve) no problems!
