Help stop huge rip-off – all Tesco and RBS card holders

I did do my research
I have 3 cards I could have used
Tesco 2.75 % loading in their summary box and on Martin's guide to using plastic abroad
Another CC 2.95% loading in their summary box and on Martin's guide to using plastic abroad
Debit card 2.75% in thier summary box and on Martin's guide to using plastic abroad
and no transaction charge like some others
With these published charges, Tesco appeared better than my other CC and equal to my debit card. As I collect club points, I used Tesco CC.
On returning to UK I find Tesco don't use MasterCard exchange rate, load their rate on my three transactions by extra 2.45% costing me £15.75 extra. To me this amounts to a hidden charge and is outright dishonest. Only Tesco and RBS do this all other UK CC play by the book and use the MasterCard or Visa rate.
RIP-OFF that cost all of us an extra £81 million and its a non-story. I wish I had money to give to banks to pay bankers bonuses like others on this site.0 -
Thanks dzug1
Martin (or his people) have added RBS CC and Tesco CC to the cards from hell list on his Cheap Travel Money Guide with a note on poor exchange rates. He has also added a note to the NatWest Debit card adding poor exchange rates.
At least this may prevent a few more people falling for Tesco/RBS rip-off. I agree with those who say don't use Tesco or RBS CC abroad now that I know what they are up to. Most people can make the right choice when they have the facts. Tesco and RBS have tried every underhanded tactic to prevent people see this Rip-off.0 -
It would appear that Tesco have fallen on their sword and will start using the MasterCard and Visa rate on their cards from the start of Feb.
