Have looked ahead to DH's gigging schedule (he works full time but it's his gig money that pays off chunks of our debts) and he's already got enough booked in next month to meet our target! It is sad that I am excited about this I know. It also means that we willl be able to exceed our target next month to make up for any lean months that we have in the future.

I really must get out more :)

At long last I have managed to make a payment to the dreaded Egg Card this morning. Not a lot but it will help the interest come down a wee bit for next month and hope to make a bigger payment in February. The motivation on this thread has been brilliant, Thank You to You All and of course JWIL :)

£225.39 Paid this month - making the Egg Card standing at £3,399.00. JWIL here is my update. Cheers Lou x

Thanks for all the updates everyone, we're doing brilliantly! I've had a slow month, but things should pick up from next month hopefully. 1 week til payday!

What a great thought that we've collectively paid off over £60k worth of debt :j:T:j:T I'll do a total next week, and post it on the first page, so we can see how well we are doing.

    Well done everyone!

Thanks for the support & encouragement (klee, sarahs999, deeperblue, jwil)

I went to my bank to tell them what had happened and that I didn’t think I should be charged the fee. The assistant I saw looked at my account and could see when the money went in etc and said that I hadn’t gone overdrawn so therefore would not be charged – even though I had received a letter from them regarding the fees. He then went on to say that I should check at the end of the month and if I have been charged to come back to the branch BUT then he saw I had been refunded fees 3 x’s before and said he doubted the bank would waive the fee and that it would be up to the manager. I told him that I had been charged the fees for using the cash points whilst stuck Portugal last April due to the “Ash Cloud” (ongoing dispute with airline, that’s another story for another thread) and that the bank had announced in the national papers that it would refund cash point fees to their stranded customers. I told him I didn’t think that was right as I only used cash points because I was stranded and family had put money in my account for me to access and I didn’t ask for a refund the bank had announced it would refund! He agreed with me and said I was sharper than him (thanks MSE, I’m getting there!) I am glad I have seen that on my account notes as I now know what I am dealing with if ever I have to ask for a refund.

I have also written to the CC involved to confirm the change of date for my DD and to express my disappointment at their handling of my DD instructions and that I want them to confirm that I wont be charged the failed DD payment & late payment and also that they make a note on my records that it was their error

Confession time - I did pay for something on my CC. I really didn’t want to spend on it but I am looking at the “cash from baking thread” and I needed some equipment so splashed out £3.59 on my CC. I had about £30 left in my bank account and had a shop to do at Tesco using my M&S moc (spend £25 get £5 off) but I couldn’t trust myself to spend exactly £25. As it happens I spent £26.35 and only had to pay £21.35 so I have paid back £4.00 to my CC

Sorry another long post :o but I wanted to tell you what had happened since I last posted

Morning everyone - well I have only been a member just over a week but I had a massive clearout of stuff at home and used my savings to put into one of the cards and so have managed a really good start. In fact I am no longer in denial now of the cards and would like to update my total to include the third card as well so my total debt owing was £10,206. So far this month I have managed to pay off £1,910. Really, really pleased. Just need to keep the flow going now :)

thanks very much for all the support and advice - it really is very much appreciated.
  • Afternoon all, have managed to pay another £16.00 in dribs and drabs over the last few days.

I had a mammoth clearout of the loft yesterday and have listed 100 small items on ebay, so fingers crossed that earns me a few pennies soon. Have saved more expensive items for the next free listing weekend :D

    Running total is: £118.96/£4500.00
