My life, I din't realise you were counting mortgage payments, that makes more sense as to how you got to £17,000 so quickly. I haven't included them in my debt as I think of my mortgage as something separate - are your payments overpayments or the usual monthly sums?0

Everyone's doing so well, and seeming really positive :T Car tax/ MOT finally out of the way, couple of birthday presents to sort out and that's it for the month. Will do better in August!0 -

Right now we've paid off 25.17% of the total challenge debt
If you exclude people who have NEVER made a payment on this thread that removes £288,824.40 from the total to pay.
Taking that tidy little sum out of the equation means that the more active (as in have posted at least twice - once to be added and once to make a payment!!) members of the challenge have paid off a grand total of:
31.21%
So the absent members aren't doing our total much damage when you look at it like that!
Thanks for doing that, really interesting! :T"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

Hi, Newly spurred on to decrease debt, I'm aiming to pay off £2800 in 201, already paid £638. Total debt to clear (aim is 5 years) £18573. Have increased hours at work so will be able to pay more soon.

Thanks for the updates everyone, hope you all had a good weekend.
Welcome back polka, hope the new computer is good.
Welcome back foxy78, well done on the payments! It's nice to see people returning again.
Well done on the weightloss sarah - that's fab! I'm another with huge amounts to lose, so it's nice to hear success stories.
Sorry if I've missed anything else, it's not intentional, just brain freeze
I've paid £324 today so that's 2/10 payments to my debts now.
I'm really skint this month, so it will be a struggle to get to the 10."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

Hi Sarahs999
Yes I have included mortgage debt and payments in my payment and targets. I dont include any of the interest payments - just the amount of capital reduction on the credit cards, loans and mortgage. We started the mortgage (125k) three years ago and therefore are paying well over what we need to pay.
To me a mortgage is still a debt in the same way that any other loan is - so I have included it in this challenge - hope I have not done something wrong!

god no, nothing wrong. I'm just envious of you being in a position to do something about it! I would't include mine as it's around £140k and it would be far too depressing!0
