Hi - several members of my family are veggies, and I'd love to be able to make pannacotta for them without gelatine. Does anyone know what I could use instead, please?
TIA

There is vege-gel which is made by supercook /doktor oetker I haven't made panna cotta with it but I use it for marshmallows. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

I've used this for veggie champagne jelly, it was very good.
There's also agar-agar but I've never even seen this for sale.0 -
You can also use agar agar which I have had from a health food shop when I've used it before but so long ago I can't remember quantities and the like - sorry - I do know than it makes a harder set than gelatine so you need to use less than you think.0

You can get agar-agar in Mr S. At least that is where I got a box of it.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0

I've tried agar agar a couple of times and mucked up with it. Vege gel is much cheaper too I think. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

They sell made marshmellows aswell by the way http://www.veganstore.co.uk/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=1&Product_Code=448&Category_Code=520 or http://www.veganstore.co.uk/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=1&Product_Code=76&Category_Code=520 They aren't cheap but they are a welcomed treat when you haven't had something in a long time. I remember when I had a vegan donut after beig vegan for 3 years (I think it was 3 it may have been longer) - it was like having my first ever donut all over again

I just bought some agar flakes in my local shop because they didn't sell gelatin. Does anyone know the conversion between the two? I have a recipe for turkish delight that asks for 23g of gelatin powder.0
