the other dog is now with us , there was a bit of a scrap between them to start with , and since then plenty of sniffing the nether regions , they slept in seperate rooms , and this morning there was another scrap on the stairs , they are now still 'trying it on ' with each other , they will both sit and stay till i give them a treat each , and are wagging there tails all the time , they are both similar size , if anything the new dog is heavier than our one ,
they seem to be enjoying them selves , as the previous poster has said i will not be leaving them unsupervised but am wondering how long this will go on for , the constant 'bothering' each other , it seems pretty pointless as neither one can get the better of the other .my favourite food is spare ribs0 -
Our last rescue ( male terrier x neutered) spent his first days trying to hump our lurcher ( also male and neutered) but now they are best of friends, the terrier regularly cleans Sams eyes and ears for him which he loves. But with him also it was a dominance thing.
It gets embarrassing when he tries it on with dogs in the park.
Hope you had a good night last night and they quickly settle down.0 -

Have they got toys to play with?
& have you tried taking them out in the garden together? Might calm them down if they can have a good chase!0 -
Our old dog was fairly antisocial when it came to other dogs (as a result of an attack). We had friends who had a dog who was similar to ours (he was a bit picky which dogs he liked) but the two of them loved getting together & would play fight for hours. We had our friends dog come to stay a few times & he would fit in so well with our family dynamics.
It was quite sad as they both got older, their play time got shorter & eventually they would just have a sniff & lie down together!
That has not helped you - but your post brought back some happy memories of the old guys who are running around at rainbow bridge now!0
