Yes - Barclays are down at the moment ;)

Santander (both Abbey and A&L) down earlier today - then a delay in receiving faster payments inwards :)

Bank of Scotland unable to send faster payments (although Halifax was OK)

MBNA was down earlier today :D

  • Not for me it's not - still down and has been for what seems like about a week  I got bills to pay and money to shift around!

I'd check with Barclays if I were you. I had the same message for a few days and when I rang they told me they had blocked my account. I have to go in to a branch with ID and even then they couldnt tell me if or when the account would be re-instated! All of this 1 week before Christmas too!
  • Argh. Thanks for that, i'll pop in tomorrow...

    UPDATE:

I have now visited the branch and been told that Barclays are closing all my accounts, effective 31/12. I have a Current account, Savings account and an ISA with them and have never been close to overdrawn and do not owe them anything. They can't tell me why other than I no longer "fit their criteria"!

Fortunately I have an account with the Halifax and can transfer everything to there but I now have to withdraw all my cash from the account which will total thousands. I will never use the bank again after this. I've kept all my accounts in perfect order and this is how they repay their customer!
  • That is bizarre. I would be truly peeved if I were you. I don't get why banks would just do this unless you left all accounts empty with no activity on them?

My problem turned out to be that their online systems detected that my PC has a Trojan virus! They sent me some anti-virus to use but i'm a bit paranoid and am instead going to use Avast again which was fine on my old laptop.

I logged onto their online banking from my work and got in OK.

I'm glad you got your problem sorted in the end. :)
