I went to the sorting office and they were very unhelpful, nothing they could do.
When going on the RM tracking service it tells me "Your item with reference ********* was delivered from our ********* Delivery Office on 10/12/10 .
Thank you for using this service.
Sorry, an electronic proof of delivery is not available for this item."

To get a copy of the signature costs £2.20 that is a bit unfair as it is them that lost the item. i have sent a few emails to RM with no reply.

no it doesnt.it costs £2.20 to get a printed copy
if they have a sig then it should update on the site

As far as the seller is concerned they have fulfilled their part of the sale, you need to address this issue with the Royal Mail, insist on a copy of the signature if they say it was delivered.

I had a Recorded Delivery packet on Saturday just pushed through my door obviously unsigned for, the postman called yesterday with another Recorded Delivery packet and when I mentioned the fact he had not got a signature on the one at the weekend he didn't seem to know what to say. He said "were you in, I was in a hurry"!!!!!
Surprise surprise the package shows as
Your item with reference **** was delivered from our **** Delivery Office on 13/12/10 .
Thank you for using this service.
Sorry, your electronic proof of delivery is not available at the moment.

if it updates as delivered then the postie either scanned it as delivered on a PDA(which would have updated with a sig in real time)
or has delivered using a paper card(in your case)
this has been scanned by the delivery office(hence the status changing to delivered)
and will be sent away for machine scanning of the sigs

The RM site said "Sorry, an electronic proof of delivery is not available for this item."

So i just have to wait until it gets updated?
  • so still no signature, no replies to my emails, and the customer services cant help me. so i am stuck. do i just wait for 15 working days to pass to make a claim? will i be able to make a claim in this case?
    what to do?

The sender not addressee is the person to make the claim.

it takes time for sigs to be updated
the are physically sent for scanning
as its December there is a massive increase in the numbers being done
  • ok there is now a signature and it is unreadable so i am non the wiser
  • You can call Royal Mail (or Parcelforce) and they can tell you the address it has been delivered to. I had the same problem recently with a seller telling me her parcel had been delivered to me and I knew full well I hadn't received it. It turned out it had been sent to a completely different address. We are still in dispute, its a nightmare.
Obviously though you need to get through to someone at the Royal Mail, and my experience was a long and frustrating one! Trial and error in the end!
  • I have spent the last few days trying to call my local sorting office and i haven't been able to get it to ring even once, user busy, user busy ................ The customer support tell me they cant help just call the sorting office. its driving me mad, don't even have a chance to go down and have a word.
