Car Insurance Claim - No Fault?

Thank you lisyloo. I'm going to try and get it repaired, at least roadworthy so I've got some transport then take it from there. I just don't want to end up out of pocket, but I've no idea how much the repairs will cost at this stage, or what effect the cat c status will have on the value.
I've got a hire car. After my initial panic (earlier in the thread) I've had written confirmation that, regardless of what happens with my claim, I'm not liable for any costs.
Once my car is returned though, I would imagine that the hire car will be going back. Until mine is roadworthy, I guess I'll be relying on my legs.0 -
You should be able to keep your hire car until a settlement is agreed and paid for the write off. Keeping the hire car increases the costs for the insurer and focuses their mind on reaching a settlement.0

my OH had a hire car out supplied by tesco after one of their policy holders ran into her last year, we kept it for either 5 or 7 days after they paid out to give us time to source a new car.
Given that it takes 4 working days just to clear the cheque it didn't seem unreasonable to me (or them when I asked)0 -
I've just heard from my insurers that the other party's insurers have accepted full liability. Thank goodness for that.:D0

Just wanted to let everyone know that I've received my cheque in settlement this morning. My car is being returned on Tuesday (salvage) when they collect the hire car.
Relieved it's all over and very grateful to everyone for their advice and support. Thank you.0
