It's in Barnsley, South Yorks. In terms of area it's probably about average. There are some lovely little pockets in the town and surrounding areas but then again there are some... holes as well. It's probably in the middle somewhere. It has driveway to the front, garden to the rear and has decent views overlooking fields at the back.
We were originally looking for maybe just a small terrace for around 90k (being our first home), but some of the ones we looked at were unbelievably over-priced. Our take on it is that for the extra we would pay for this one, we're getting a bigger house on a new estate, and in terms of value this is a good deal - if prices keep going up it's going to benefit the owners of a 3bed end townhouse more rather than a 2 bed terrace house? Or am I being naive!?!?!?0 -

On the other hand, if prices fall owners of more expensive houses will take a bigger hit. Also remember that a larger house will generally cost more to run in terms of council tax, heating, maintanance etc
Personally, I think buying a smaller, high-quality and readily re-saleable property is the best way to minimise risk.0 -
