Replacing water mains

Just had my survey back. Says hot water pressure not good despite a Megaflo. Surveyor says probably due to the pipe from mains not being replaced. It is a c,100 year old house.
Can anyone help with a ballpark as to how much it would cost. The surveyor thinks about £4k. The vendor says about £1k. Some difference!

Depends what needs replacing.
The waterboard will do the bit to the edge of the property line for free... the householder has to replace all internal pipe work to their specification and have their survey out to it.
I'd get several quotes. There should be qualified water engineers listed on the utility website. You have to use one registered I think.
Bear in mind the vendor is trying to sell their house to you.0 -
Eh? Assuming there is not a combi boiler, pipework to the house will not affect HW pressure unless the mains pipe is so blocked that there is an even more evident CW problem.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Sounds an unlikely explanation. As to to how much...... I'm not psychic !
How long is your front garden? Is it landscaped? Will digging it up be a big job?
Does the mains pipe inter your house front or back? Does it go UNDER your house before coming up in the back kitchen? Will digging up the inside of your house be a big job?
See... it could be 1 foot of pipework or a huge task!0
