New windscreen for Nissan Almera
Does anyone know of a reasonable priced source for a new windscreen for a Nissan Almera 1996? Autoglaze quoted me £145 delivered and fitted, seems like a rip off to me since the car cost only £500.
Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

Are you covered by your insurance? The windscreen excess is usually £50~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)0

Do you need a complete screen?
all the screen fitting firms offer chip n crack repairs.
SOMETIMES this will be done freely by your insurance.
Also if it is only minor - you may not have MoT failure, depending on the position of damage.
So you could just leave it, but it WILL get worse.Water will enter the chip/crack, frost too. Or driving over a sharp bump may cause it to 'go'.

Im only third party and theft, Autoglaze have quoted me 109.00 all in, nice to see some things down in price. :j Does anyone know whether a 98 Almera 2.0 GTI would have a different windscreen to my 96 1.4 Almera as ive seen the former advertised on ebay as going to be broken up in Bristol.0 -
Isn't the windscreen direct glazed?
If so, I recommend leaving it to a professional to replace. Getting out the old windcreen is a technique in itself and the sealant is a nightmare to get right without practice. If you damage the bodywork the windcreen sits in (potentially quite easy on a possibly corroded 10 year old vehicle) then you'll end up having to buy a new car."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
