We have a Hotpoint Aquarius WML 560P and the door is stuck shut with wet washing inside. It looks as if the door catch is broken.
Hotpoint want to charge over £100 to come out and sort it, which we can't really afford. Any ideas?????

My OH hacksawed the lock off a Hotpoint washing machine, when it stuck and wouldn't let him have his jeans back! It took him a bit of time to disable all the interlock mecanisms, but then he just fitted a bolt to the door instead.
We must be the only people to have a washing machine you had to unbolt the door to get in and out, but it worked a treat for many years after that!

well before yoyu pay out + £100 try this little tip. look at the door and your handle is on right hand side,go about 6 ins below door to right hand side and with your fist give three bangs !!!!!!! this seems strange but worked for me !!! good luck.0

1) turn off the electric and water
2) pull washing machine out
3) the grey waste water hose, pull that out of the drain.
4) lay the grey waste water hose down into a bowl or out of the back door, this will gravity empty the washing machine.
5) when empty reconnect the electric and try the door opener again, if it openes its unlikely to be the door catch.
It could be the pump is faulty which is why the machine didnt empty or it could be the pressure switch which also controls the water emptying and pump cycle. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
take the machine out side. remembering to hold up the drain tube.
then drain the machine off by letting the tube fall to the floor.
tip the machine on its side, and you should be able to get a tool/bar in there to release the catch.Get some gorm.0
