Refund for cancelled flight...after I rescheduled

Hi,
can anybody help with this?
I flew with BA last week. Outbound flight was cancelled (snow), BUT 1 hour before I found out I rescheduled myself as bad weather had made me miss my train to airport. I did it online as hotline was "busy". They did not even put you in a queue.
I paid incredible 260 pounds to change to a later flight (incl. 60 pounds fee). If I had waited 1 hour longer I would not have had to pay anything.
BA Customer Service say they wont refund.
Thanks for any input,
Chris

That sounds like very bad luck, if you had missed the flight, could you not have made a claim on your travel insurance? The problem I see is that you made the decision to cancel and rebook and therefore at the time you did do, it was entirely your own choice. Hindsight is wonderful but not much use in this case, if you have already spoken to CS then the only option is a polite letter and a prayer, not sure you will get anything though. Last year, Dec 21st I got to the airport for a 0645 departure to be told our arrival airport was closed due to snow, at 0900 they told us the airport was not expected to open before 1130 and as I was on a day trip for business, it seemed pointless and I and around 50% of the passengers disembarked, 33 minutes the flight took off, we all lost everything......0
