Hilton Garden Inn Times Square v Doubletree Guests Suites Time Square

Hi everyone

We're starting out honeymoon in June in NYC and are looking at either of these two hotels to stay at.

has anyone stayed at either hotel and if so what did you think?

Any thoughts on which is better?

They both have great Tripadvisor reviews so its really just whether we want to be directly in Time Square or a bit further out unless anyone has any other useful experiences from the hotels.

Thank you

I cant do a direct comparison for you as we have only stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn, but we can recommend it highly.

We stayed there Feb 2009, first time to New York City and found it to be excellent.

I also can't do a direct comparison but we stayed at the Doubletree.

I highly, highly recommend the accommodation - you get a two room with suite with small kitchen area, lounge, big TV and sofa (which turns into a bed if you want). Bedroom had a massive bed and TV. We had a view over Times Square.

Warm chocolate chip cookies at check in went down well.

There were loads of lifts and we never waited long (which has been an issue in other NYC hotels we stayed at).

    Staff all friendly :)

Again I can't do a direct comparison as I have only stayed at the Doubletree, but we were very impressed by it.

The only thing which put me off was the amount of people outside the hotel at night time. It felt a bit daunting at times to get out into the scrum.

We stayed at Hilton New York when we travelled to New York - fabulous hotel and slightly away from the "scrum" of Times Square
