Electric is electric and they all cost the same to run based on the amount of KW/Hr heat out.
The only bonus in the oil fired one is the radiator which can be turned down low and thus reduce the 20p per hour cost.

The alternative solution to the above is to restrict the radiator flow in rooms that can be set cooler. (tighten to the required temp the normally untouched end of the radiator to be cooled)
  • Yes, running an oil radiator won't give out any more heat for your £££ than running a standard convector heater. A 2kw oil will use the same as a 2kw convector. The oil effort does take longer to warm-up but then takes longer to cool down. For this reason it does feel as if it gives more of a constant heat in between the thermostat clicking on and off. I certainly prefer these. If full on one shouldn't cost much more than around 17p an hour to run based on a typical online tariff of about 8p a unit.
