my sisters twin girls were born at just over 26 weeks and both girls, although giving the family a couple of 'scares' did well and thrived. they are now 9 years old and two happier, healthier girls would be hard to find!

my DS was born by emergency c section at 32 weeks, he wieghed 2lb13 ozand they told me that he might not make it
he is now coming up to his 12th birthday, yes he has had 4 ops the first when he was 8 weeks old, but he is a normal gormless preteen that has started puberty (oh the joy)
so dont worry, everything will be fine
If we can put a man on the moon...how come we cant put them all there?

Don't voice your concerns. She probably has enough of her own.

I had 2 very high risk pregnancies (not counting the first which was normal till 31 weeks). I was worried enough for myself but other people telling me how worried they were really got me down. It also meant that I felt I had nobody to talk to about my fears, I was so worried about them worying!

So worry for her, but don't let her see.
Thank you tiamaid. But please would you mind explaining in what way your pregnancy was normal UNTIL 31 weeks?

Did something go wrong at that stage? It's heartwarming to hear all the stories of babies arriving at that stage and much earlier, and being absolutely fine though.

But stories like that of poor Lily Allen, who lost her baby at 6 months, have worried me too.

The table of likelihood of survival in early births was brilliant...thank you!

I developed pre eclampsia. Which was picked up during my routine midwife checks and dealt with. Baby was induced early at 35 weeksbut it all went well and we were both healthy.

I do not do pregnancy well at all and I'm in the abnormal camp. Things can happen, but it is far more common for them not to happen.

Most pregnancies progress well and end up with a happy baby and happy mummy (and happy family).

My son was born at 27 weeks gestation by emergency c section and he survived after a long hard battle and lots of scares. He spent 4 months in hospital and has been in and out since discharge in jan 10.

Lets keep everything crossed for this little baby to make it to term because viable or not being born early is a tremendous struggle for survival for these babies. Before i had my son i had no idea just how tough it is.

You are in my prayers although from what you have said this little one will be just fine if no problems have arisen so far, my pregnancy became problematic at 18 weeks.

    Good luck.

27 weeks? That must've been terrifying for you. Is he still having problems? I do hope he's ok...he must be quite a little fighter, God love him.

    Thanks for your good wishes.

. How was the pre eclampsia dealt with?

When someone gets real pre eclampsia (as opposed to the mother being at risk of) the only option is to get the baby out immediately. At 31 weeks it should be OK if this happened to your daughter.

Rather than concentrating on all the possible bad things that might happen, maybe it would be better for you and your daughter if you enjoyed her pregnancy.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

Guess I must have just made up the medical diagnosis then. I was medicated and monitored for 2 weeks after developing 'real' pre eclampsia before being induced.

He has a few ongoing problems mostly to with feeding but nothing we cant get him through :)

I also had early onset pre eclampsia and my son was delivered same day that i found this out as it came on so sudden. I think what you mean by "real" pre eclampsia is when it develops into eclampsia which is what i was on the verge of happening to me hence the need for urgent delivery
