Cancelling car insurance renewal?

Hi

My car insurance has recently been renewed with Churchill but I did not realise they are charging me a hell of a lot more than they have been the for previous 12 months. I was wondering if there was a 14 day cooling off period with renewals or anything to help me cancel my new policy?

Thanks.

There can be but they are still entitled to charge for the period in question. Just not beyond it. Check your renewal notice for your specific cancellation terms as you may now find that the cost of cancellation is greater than keeping it.

If the policy has been auto renewed, you should have received the renewal quote at least 21 days before the renewal date. Even if you are within the 14 day cooling off period after the renewal date, there is an admin charge of £26.25p.

But there is a 14 day period after the renewal date?

I dont mind paying £25; I'll save more over the year. I'm trying to find my renewal to read the small print. No luck yet though.

There isn't necessarily a cooling off period for a "renewal".

Check the wording in the policy.

Quentins right, i just check my "sources"

Existing customers with a Renewal generated ON OR AFTER 13th Sept 2009 and cancelled WITHIN the cooling off period - there is NO pro rata charge and No Administration fee is charged for cancelling.
