Radiation from monitor?

Is there any chance I might be subjecting myself to any kind of risk from sitting for hours each day in front of my 8 year old desktop, decidedly NON-flat screen monitor?

I'm totally in the dark about such matters and would appreciate any informed comment.

Such a low dosage of both EM and x-ray that there's no known danger from long term exposure.

Sit about a metre away in front and the risks are minimal. Most radiation comes from the rear, so it would be more of a risk if you were sat behind the back of another monitor.

If you are still sufficiently concerned, consider ditching it and buying a new TFT which can be had for as little as £100 now.

There would be two reasons I would say, "Well, you need a brighter screen then!"
    • as a 'jolly funny comment', and
    • because you would probably get less eyestrain from a better-focussed LCD screen
If the CRT is eight years old, I suspect it is fairly fuzzy...

Thanks to all... I consider myself... er... enlightened..?

Incidentally, do you realise just how long a metre is...? I can hardly reach the keyboard!

Maybe it'll give you super powers due to the exposure. At least that's the way I like to look at it.
