What have you ordered? (Do wonder why so many posters are so coy about the details!)

I would expect reasonable precautions to be taken on such items, you could reasonably expect to receive them in a similar condition to if you'd bought them in a shop. For this purpose most of the time a simple cardboard box should suffice!
