Hi I asked this last week on the Wanna buy it thread but got no answers.
Im hoping to get my OH a Blue ray player for Christmas but there are so many out there I dont know what I need to be looking for.

I was hoping to spend around the £100 mark and saw a few reduced from £150 odd to £100.

Some though on Argos for example were reduced by this much but when I googled that item they were all around £79, so does that make them rubbish and Argos were just charging too much in the first place?

This is the one I am considering

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-BDPS370B-CEK-BDPS370-Blu-ray-Player/dp/B0038M1UTW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1292236698&sr=8-1

It is reduced from £170 to £119 in Tesco. So I was going to go with the Amazon one but wondered if it was worth the £179 in the first place?

thanks

It regularly drops to 100 quid
Its a fantastic bluray player with very good upscaling and sound to boot, and is well worth it even at full price

  • I don't have an HD TV (as yet) so no HDMI sockets, would I be able to connect this using a scart lead to me existing TV

You would need to find one which can down scale to SD resolutions and output via scart. Or simply play DVD's and output to scart on your older CRT TV. Then you would be able to use it later with a HDTV via HDMI connection. I don't know whether anyone makes such a player.

It does if you knew my circumstances. My dvd player is not working, and I don't want to replace it with another dvd player. I thought I may as well go for a blu-ray dvd but as I am not ready to replace my TV yet, I wanted to know how to connect it to my current TV which only has scart sockets - no HDMI. It's really only a temp measure until I replace my TV. Please don't say replace the TV first, as cash is a bit of an issue at the time being. Does it make any more sense now why I'm asking the question? So, does anyone have any bright ideas please?

Get an old skool DVD with SCART off Ebay, they go for less than £15.
