Never passed a credit check.

I have applied for a credit check twice in my life.

The first time was over three or four years ago when I tried to apply for a contract phone with O2. It was the first time I ever applied for a contract anything but the credit check failed so I moved on.

Recently I went on to Dell to apply for a laptop in a pay monthly basis. I needed this laptop for school so I applied for it. Again my credit check has failed.

Does anyone know what causes it to fail.

I don't owe any money out. I pay all my bills on time as my bank details would show and I am in debt to nobody.

Does anyone know what I can do to improve my credit rating?

(Sorry if this is the wrong forum).

Sounds like an ID, ie Electoral Roll, problem.

Suggest you order your credit report(s)* to see what the lenders see when they search your file.

    * There are 3 CRAs (Experian, Equifax, & CallCredit), and a statutory report will cost £2 from each.
