Seeking a reliable web design company to finish off our unfinished site (Manchester)

Hi all

This is a long story, but my partner commisioned a web company to build a web site for his company. Things turned sour with the company (because they just couldn't deliver). Now the site is unfinished and needs finishing. Initially, my partner was in contact with a company to 'rescue' the project, but they quoted £1800 for a project that is 80% finished!!! This is massively over priced. Anybody know any companies who specialise in this sort of thing?

Sorry, but am not looking for students etc. I am looking for a professional company who are VERY experienced in Web design, SEO etc.

How much are you expecting to pay for someone to finish it of for?

May turn out £1800 is a reasonable quote, you say it's 80% complete, but alot of rework maybe required, alot of companies won't be prepared to carry on where it left of if it risks affecting their own companies reputation.

You'll be best to type into google 'townname website design', theres no shortage of design companies out there, my local town Kendal has loads of them

Have to say I agree. I am just starting out in web design and so would happily have a crack at finishing it off, but would not be keen if I was an established professional, as I would effectively be putting my name to a finished product that is 80% not mine (and that 80% may not be up to my standard). Depending on how the original company coded the site, it may also be extremely problamatical for someone else to alter that code retrospectively.

I agree with Lakeuk. Professional and VERY experienced = loadsamoney. He might be better off employing someone to start again from scratch and write off the cost of the unfinished site. It might be more cost-effective in the long run. In my experience, professionals are not always the best option.

Agreed - fixing another person's mess is big work, especially if they've used different design tools where nothing is compatible. And £1800 is not a lot if there's anything fancy going on (online shopping, membership integration, custom code, etc), time was when I'd have charged you £300++ per day just to start lookign at the problem and fixing, and that was direct rates, via an agency I'd be charged out at more to the clients...but that's what you pay for pros (and boy do I wish I was still earning that sometimes).

Ask local business owners who you know and trust (eg shops, etc) who did their web work and how they got along, you may find someone local who'll do a good enough job for an alright price.
