Objection to moving suppliers
Options
Hi, trying to move from BG to Utility warehouse.
I have a fairly large outstanding bill for gas and electricity. I have a payment arrangement of £200 month for gas and £100 month for electricity. BUt this amount is killing me, starting to impact on the food shopping and the rent. My Business is fairly new and so hardly any income at the moment.
A prepayment meter is out of the question, as the charge is much higher, and I know there will be times when there is no money to put gas or electricity in .
So want to move.
Now giving the background my question is this? Do the utilitiy companies have a code of conduct wherebye after 3 requests to change suppliers they remove the objection, even if there is still an outstanding bill.
Now the reason I ask this is because a friend said he moved from London Electricity to British Gas, with an outstanding bill, and british gas put it through three times, without even so much as a nudge. And then it went through. my friend told me, they told him that this was standard procedure.
Anyone else heard of this?

If you are finding it hard to pay then a PP meter is the best option. This will charge you the same as if you had a quarterly bill with no Direct debit. They can then adjust the amount for debt to what you can afford. They can also set it lower through the winter and to rise again after.
If some one has a debt less than £200 on a PP meter they can now move suppliers but not sure re credit meters. Usually the first time gets rejected from the leaving supplier. Then the Occupier is advised to tell their supplier to go through the Debt Assignment protocol. This is definitely the way for PP meters.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0 -
In industry agree process for assigning debt from one supplier to another applies to ppm. I suspeect this is because the new supllier has a guaranteed method of payment, namely the ppm.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Why do people recomment PP meters? They are far more expensive than the online DD deals available so don't help anyone with debt at all. All it does is makes it easy for the supplier to reclaim the money. That's why the suppliers recommend it but people on a forum should be advising the person and not siding with the supplier.0

Hi, trying to move from BG to Utility warehouse.
Take it you like paying more for your energy then ?.
I would suggest you put your consumption into a comparison website and that will tell you the cheapest deal. E.ON & EDF have competitve tariffs at the moment. UW have been known to have almost the most expensive gas & elec prices in the country. His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0 -

Objection to moving suppliers
Hi, trying to move from BG to Utility warehouse....
Sounds like they've done you a massive favour to me
Contact your existing supplier and ask for help e.g. moving to a more cost effective tariff with them, discussing existing repayment difficulties, etc."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
