Scam PLEASE READ

Hi all,

I am not sure if anyone has posted this but could not see it on the site. Everyone should be aware that there is Scam at the moment where you will get a Phone call, and the caller will tell you they are from BT or another company.

They will then tell you to install a program like Logmein as you have a problem with your computer(usally Virus related) and they need to take control to fix it.

Please be aware of any calls like this!

A version of this has been doing the rounds for quite a while.
Always worth highlighting but can't believe that people fall for this rubbish.

The most common one I've heard of (and received one of myself) involves callers who claim to be from Microsoft. Sadly, in the case of my caller - who I'm sure bust a blood vessel during the call - I use Linux and knew it was a scam call from the outset and felt obliged for the sake of fellow computer users to occupy him for as long as possible. Whilst clearly a gent from the Indian sub-continent his command of Anglo-Saxon was noteworthy. I have previously posted about the call on this forum.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

I was rushing out earlier this evening when the phone rang.

I was expecting a call from work so answered, a guy with an Indian (?) accent introduced himself as Frank (!!!!!!).

I put the phone down before I thought to see if it was a scammer.

    Sorry that's all!
    Move along, nothing to see.

If you had stayed on the line, you might have found it was a scammer, in which case you could sleep OK tonight.

Because the alternative is that it was a call from work and your job has been outsourced.

Oh if anyone asks for Mr or Mrs etc and your name do not say YES just say Speaking and try to avoid saying Yes, They edit the audio and could find a massive utility bill from some company, by asking you simple questions that have Yes or no answers. Just hang up.
