Evening everyone,
We are travelling down to London next wednesday by train. We are staying in the Southwark travelodge for 2 nights. 2 adults, 14 daughter 6 son.
Does anyone have any ideas for a suitable restaurant on the south bank for our first evenings meal?
On the Thursday we are visiting santa at Harrods and would also like to visit Hamleys. Once again does anyone have ideas for an evening meal in this area of London?
When we go without kids we just hunt and find anywhere that looks good, however I would like some sort of an idea where to go when we have kids in tow!!
Thanks ever so much in advance

On the Southbank, you have loads of restaurants. You can walk from the London Eye all the way down to a little beyond the Tate Modern with loads of choice.
Chain restaurants
Giraffe (good for kids)
Wagamama
Nandos
The Real Greek
Pizza Express (has great views of the Thames/ London Bridge/ St Pauls)
Dim T (as pizza express, great views)
Gourmet Burger Kitchen (Clink Street)
Ask (pizza pasta etc)
Strada
Have a look at the resturant voucher websites. There will be some good 241/ 50% vouchers for you to use. vouchercodes. co.uk
Harrods is in Knightsbridge and you need to get on public transport to get to Hamleys (Regent Street - get off at Oxford st/ leicester sq tube station)
You have a far better chance of finding a reasonable priced restaurant around Regent St than Knightsbridge.
I think someone here mentioned Bistro1.

There's also, Stockpot, www.stockpotlondon.co.uk there is one in Soho or around Leicester sq (i think)
Have a fabulous time in London!Lovin Boots and other bargainous places!0 -

Just acroos the bridge in Covent Garden is the fab Wahaca - authentic mexican street food run by Master chef winner. It also won the Observer Best Cheap Eat and whenever I have been there have been hard pushed to spend more than a tenner on food and am always full. Might depend how adventurous your kids are - but I have never tasted Mexican food this good before.

Had thought we could maybe get to the rainforest cafe for lunchtime on the thursday, before we head into the mad shopping frenzy!!
Will definately look on internet at all the other suggestions, thank you so much:beer::silenced:0 -
Love Wahaca, they have recently opened a new branch in Soho (Wardour Street), which is closer to Hamleys than the Cov Garden branch. Also, if you're adventurous, plenty of Korean restaurants in the vicinity of Soho. Inamo has interactive menus so would be a good child friendly experience http://www.inamo-restaurant.com/
Also on the South Bank is Troia, just behind County Hall / Marriott Hotel (up towards Parliament / London Eye). We also love the steaks in Black and Blue in Borough Market (London Bridge tube / train station)0 -
If you walk through to China Town you can have a great authentic chinese meal and check out the weird and wonderful things in the chinese supermarkets.0

I wouldn't say it is particularly good for children, teenagers possibly.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
There's Gourmet Pizza at Gabriel's Wharf for the first night and a Strada near Hamley's, the cheapest near Harrod's is the Stockpot.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
