Halifax Clarity Card replacement drawback

I was using the above card until it got cloned in Brazil. I am travelling for an extended period and halifax will not help me to get a replacement sent to south america. Luckily I have an alternative card, but it's annoying that neither halifax or my card insurer CPP will help me get the card shipped abroad. My friend tried to get DHL to ship it for me but they also refused! If anyone knows how to safely get a card shipped abroad I would like to hear about it? I think the bigger banks would arrange shipment to a partner bank abroad: this is a halifax weakness.

Does it need to be activated before you can use it? If it does then just posting it should be good enough. Is the reason DHL wouldn't take it because it's a credit card? If yes, just don't tell them it is.

Why would DHL refuse to courier a bank card?
Is it likely to explode mid-air?

Pick up some top-up cards and other crap leaflets from the supermarket then send it with the card by using DHL World Document Express service as printing samples. DHL drivers sometimes have to check the package and it has to be sealed in front of the driver sometimes. A new card usually isnt live anyway until activated. I found it priced at £27.80 for 10x10x1cm envelope at http://www.interparcel.com.
  • Hi my boyfriend and I are going backpacking for a year and we are are trying to find the best, safest and cheapest way of carrying our money. we are going to south east asia for 2 months, then oz then nz and then back to oz. I have been toying with the idea of getting a halifax clarity card but was wondering does anyone else have any ideas? we are also members of HSBC and was thinking about getting them to set us up abroad, does anyone know if this is cost effective? I am just scared of us loosing our money or getting robbed, but any suggestions woul be greatly appreciated.

    Many Thanks
