Name change on the ticket

hellow everyone,

I have one question which popped in my mind. I booked flights for December with a cheap flight to Southafrica advertised on google from a company called Flightsbookers.co.uk. No doubt priced which was offered me was one of the best in the market so i booked my holidays with them. Confirmation was instant and guy on the other side was friendly. Service over all was fantastic. They informed when my flight schedule changed and gave me best possible connections for the time.

All of sudden at Airport I was Denied boarding because my Family name was incorrect. i realised that passport which i was using had a different sir name after i got married.

Iberia did not even helped me even though i told them everything. They kept on saying speak to Travel agent. As the Flight was leaving in an two Hrs time I was hopeless if Travel agent can do anything on this.

I called them up and the guy who answered my was very Sympathetic . he promised me that he will called me . he called me back in 20 Minutes and advised me to Go to Iberia ticket desk and they will do the name change for me.

Indeed my name was changed at a charge of 30 pound person.

But I am angry why Iberia did not do this in first stage why they said it was impossible to do name change.

How come Flightsbookers co.uk got the name change?

so guys moral of the story is always book with company who can put customers into their shoes not with Airlines whose answer is always no.

I appreciate flightbookers for their help in such a difficult time and where Iberian did not cared about me at all.
i thought i should advice you all that when you book your flights next time book with confidence not in haste.
thanks for reading this.

Maybe in the 20 minutes that you were waiting for Flightsbookers to call you back, they contacted Iberia and confirmed that there had been an error when booking and asked them to do the change.
Look at from Iberia's point of view. They had a passenger turn up with a ticket that had a totally different surname to that shown on their passport. How would they know that it was you that was booked to fly? Maybe they just needed the travel agent to advise them of this.

I would have thought that a better moral would be is to always ensure that when making a booking, check that the name you give the booking agent is the same name as on the passport that you will be travelling with, or if there is a change of names afterwards, make sure the paperwork is corrected before going to the airport.
