I have had the same with my hotmail account it is sending out e-mails to people. Also I keep getting them from people no longer in my address book :S what do I do I don't understand? I do not want to download programmes as don't know if they are safe or not! I do not want to delete my e-mail account!

if you use the hotmail website to read your mail then a simple change your password that should stop them from being sent from your account,

also an email address is the same as a house address anyone can send email to you if they know your address, whether they are in your contacts or not, however you can add the email to your 'blocked' list and you wouldnt recieve email from that address anymore.

also malwarebytes is perfectly safe it is just an on-demand malware scanner (exactly like your antivirus is an always on scanner) you do have antivirus don't you? if you dont get avast or microsoft security essentials asap.

yeah there was nothing stopping them saving your contacts while they had access to your account, they can even spoof your email address so it looks like you are sending them.

just to make sure there are no 'spam' messages in your 'sent' folder is there?

the main purpose of changing your password was to stop them being able to get into your account, and physically take it from you.

other than that there is not much you or them can do as it is just general spam just they make it look like it is from you, if the message is always along the same content the reciever could set up a filter to send matching email to the junk/bin folders.
