Alvin was the predessesser (sp?) to Martin and used to do great inspirational programmes about getting out of debt, saving money, cutting living costs and all sorts. He also used to do a phone in on This Morning. He has a series of brilliant books out which you can buy in all book shops. I owe it to Alvin Hall that I had my lightbulb moment and got out of debt and bought my own house which was all years before anyone had heard of that Martin guy ;)

Hello all Yes the one and only Alvin Hall i used to watch your money or your life, this bloke is great in that he gave me inspiration to sort out my financial ills,i have a book by him and of course apart from the TV progs i`ve seen, also he knows what it was like to be in major debt and to dig himself out, being an american he is from the big league in terms of consumer debt.

Also anybody else read the book "How to get out of debt and stay out of debt and live prosperously by Jerrold Mundis. ?

    Regards M

Alvin was the guy whose programs got me looking at our debt and understanding things like compounding ect. Its about time we had him (or more Martin) back on with good advice rather that the crop of "I was upset as a child so I spent £50,000 to cheer myself up" programs that are out now.

Hiya Mizz_Pink i agree with your comments on more TV coverage, thought The Spendaholics series was good in that as well as the practical lessons you could get from the expert like Jay,there was sometimes a deep routed reason which Benjamin Fry tried to get to the bottom of.
I like the suggestion that there should be a National cold turkey week :) but i`d be okay cos all i get wages wise is chicken feed :)
    regards M

I only asked because I was completely unaware of this type of help and forum until I listened, quite by chance, to Martin one day, on the Jeremy Vine show. I hate to think what would have happened to me by now if I hadn't been listening to the radio as I have always tended to ignore the 'American Gurus'
    Please excuse my ignorance:beer:

    Its fine sweetie!!

Alvin is very good, even though he is a yank, he is sooo funny to listen to, Steve Wright on Radio2 does a very good impression of him.

Jezza Vine is also one of my faves, so we have something in common!
