Help please: Ipod touch compatibility with samsung home theatre

Hi can anyone offer any advice, we have a Samsung HT-X720 which comes with an ipod dock. We have tried to use it for the first time today and whilst we can see the content of the ipod (on TV screen) we can't get it to play. The user manual says that ipod touch 1st and 2nd generation are supported but ours is the new 4th gen. Does this mean we won't be able to use our ipod with this system or is it something that should be easily resolved by some sort of upgrade. I have tried looking on the samsung website but when I searched for this one it wasn't on there!

Any advice welcome, as you can probably guess we are a bit clueless.

Alot of people have this problem that 3rd gen + wasn't supported unless specifically said, and seemed alot of hifis out with the out of date tech, I think because of the rediculous charges apple demand for ipod docks inclusion.

You might have to do the old fashioned approach of pluging into the phono, line in and headphone socket on the ipod. Means you wont get the charging or remote control features.ipod touch has a itunes remote app for free and so if you run your music from a laptop into the hifi then you will have a remote features. But I know that doesn't really suit everyone as the dock is there to save space.
