Playstation 3 keeps freezing

HELP!!! my PS3 keeps freezing when playing games its driving me mad :mad:, We got it last xmas so its not even a year old yet, any ideas on what it could be or any help will be greatly recieved

you may need to reset it completely - this may mean saving all the save game data you can (memory stick)- then reloading all the patches for the PS3 operating system with a clean slate - I would advise you get in touch with the PS3 support first though to check, but I have a feeling they would suggest this anyway

This happened to my boys PS3.. it can over heat. They had theirs on the lower shelf of a TV stand and it got very hot. We had it replaced and then found a better position for the 'new' one when we got it. Inform Sony sooner than later as it will be replaced free of charge if done within the year.

Thanks for your reply i have sent Playstation a email so hopefully they will help me sort it out!! it does it with all sorts of games not just my new one and hubby says it has also done it when watching a blu ray aswell GRRRRRRR

Thanks XXdeebeeXX we did have it on a tv shelf but moved it a while ago so now it should be ok, it drives me mad because sometimes it happens after a hour of gameplay and other times only 10 mins and all you can do is turn the whole system off hopefully playstation will get back to me!!

Thanks for ur help peeps i did a system restore on advice from playstation but that didnt sort it so now have a nice new one, great customer service thought i was gonna hve a fight on my hands but no they was great and sent me a new one the next day!! was really close 2 as we had got it last year 4 xmas so only just in warrenty

Good news. We too found them really helpful ( I think it's a common fault though) make sure you have plenty of space around the PS3 and that it's no backing against a wall. My boys only had 3 month warranty on the replacement but still worth doing,
