dialup ISP's with free trials ?

Does anyone know of a few of these

I know of AOL ( can't use as already a customer) and Tiscali

I have switched to BB AOL on new computer which son loves. I can predict over the holidays that there will be times when we both want to use the internet so I'm after a trial dial up on old computer. Also still have some data on old PC which is easier to email to self as don't have writeable drive.

Can't connect old computer to BB also as it is Windows 95 and non USB.

put a compatible ethernet card into it, and network the machines together - that way you'll be able to share the broadband connection :) though, it will probably cost you more than what you really want to pay ou, which, in this case, appears to be nothing
  • Most ISPs offer a pay-as-you-go dial-up option, you mentioned Tiscali & that would be my choice as you don't have to install any of their software (unless you want to), the sign-up only takes a few minutes with only address details & date of birth required. Just make a note of the 0844 access number & you can always use it for emergencies on any machine. I've never come across any totally free dial-up ISPs as there's no advantage to them offering such a thing.

Thanks for your replies. I didn't want a free all the time dial up, just a month whilst there were 3 of us at home at Xmas might be handy.

I can always use my old old tesco dial 0845 number or I think I can get an 0845 number from AOL for occasional use. The AOL 080 number was still working on old pc for about 10 days after connection to broadband.

No signup, no password, no nothing. Very good as a backup if your broadband goes into meltdown.

However, why you'd want to use dialup when you could use 4 PCs from a broadband router, is anybody's guess !!

Thought I had explained earlier. Old PC is old so don't think it will support broadband. Don't want to upgrade it , just wanted a backup ( esp over Xmas hols when husband/son will be on this one) and also needed to upload some data from it ( no Cd/RW drive).
