Have an AIP
Decided on Surveyor (but will consider Mortgage Companies suggested Surveyors)
Solicitor Sorted
Buying an empty house (not probate)
We are not in a chain
In the past due to a messy divorce we incurred masses of debt, but it has all been clear with no missed payments or problems for about 6 years or so.
Our AIP went through the credit check with no problems, but can't help panicking that they will turn it down.
So i thought i should apply to progress it now, but EA says no, do survey and get solicitors onboard before progressing the application.
What do i do, and when?
Lastly AIP runs out on 31st Dec (total shutdown over christmas and New Year won't help:()

Was a 40 a day smoker for 20 years.
Decided to give up, and haven't had a fag for 12 years.
Halfway through losing six stone.
Looking forward to early retirement.

Yes, i stand corrected, i did actually search for it! But maybe spelling got the better of me:o
The only thing i'm really stuck on is now that i have all the info ready on the full application form, do i hit "Submit" now?
I'm guessing yes if i'm going to use their surveyor...But EA said NO.
EA reckons the final YES from the Post Office will take weeks!
No one on here seems to listen to the EA so i'm just plain confused.
I can't see what else i'm supposed to do until the Post Office have agreed the money!
i Feel the EA is pushing me , but not sure why (End of Year Bonus perhaps?)
This is my first time:o (other property was right to buy years ago - was all done for me!)Was a 40 a day smoker for 20 years.

You've agreed to buy a house.
You don't have enough money yourself to do so.
So you need to borrow some.
Without this, you cannot buy the house.
So might it not be a good idea to confirm that your preferred lender is prepared to lend you the money?
Yoy need to do 3 things:
1) Apply for a mortgage
2) Instruct a solicitor (unless you've decided to do the conveyancing yourself (inadvisable given the number and type of questions you are asking)
3) reassure yourself the property is sound - either by doing a survey yourself, instructing an independant surveyor, or asking the mortgage lender to instruct their surveyor at the same time as they do a valuation
Google 'housebuying' or similar and find sites like this.0 -
That's about it, the only thing i seem to be confused about is when do i submit the "proper" mortgage application ie Moving on from the agreement in principle? This to me seems the logical next step. I'll phone Post Office on Monday as thier helpline has been pretty good answering genral questions.
