Same as Half-Life 2, then.
It's done under the auspices of preventing piracy, or at least making it more difficult.
Saying that, there are plenty of sites where I've seen Battlefield 2142 for download, so obviously there are hackers out there who have found a way around it already.0 -
Each game has a unique id, by which you can get banned by (if you're being an idiot on the servers). So say you bought the game, were an idiot, get banned, then return the game. The person that buys the game would then not be able to play.
Or you could copy the unique id, send it back, then still try to use the id, which would most likely trigger something on the servers as more than one person would be trying to use the same id to play the game."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
If it's anything like HL2 then I think the serial number stays with that account for life and you're not allowed to transfer accounts to someone else. I could be wrong but that's the way I read it. Besides I actually really like Steam. I might have a different opinion if I was still on dial up though but I like the idea of not needing the disks without the hassle of using no-cd type tools.
But it does kind of cut down on the secondary market and returns."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
