Except that my thread doesn't expect anyone to risk life and limb driving a juggernaut down an icy cul-de-sac - I want to know why a delivery can't be made from a depot to a large store on the A20, five miles away from the M25 - or at the very least, have the decency to let me know that the delivery hasn't been made 48 hours after the anticipated date.
  • Its slightly annoying around where I live, but then I'm in a area where most of the houses have three or four flats a piece and just one normal sized bin (for some reason the local council doesn't want to provide recycling bins / green boxes) so it does get filled up weekly and of course the council has now proposed changing collections to every two weeks. However I can fully understand if the bin men can't get round due to road conditions or being assigned other work - its just a bit annoying for me having to find some where to dispose of my rubbish when the bin is full.

Maybe the world (and Tesco) does not revolve around you?
    Gone ... or have I?
  • I would be seriously upset if one of the georgeous hunky binmen who collect my rubbish fell over in ice or snow.....

Their arrival on collection day always cheers me up!
I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.
  • We get annoyed because of the high handed attitude of the council.

We have alternate weekly collections - if our bin is not emptied for whatever reason, then its tough and we have to wait another 2 weeks for it to be emptied. Last Xmas we went 6 weeks without getting the non-recycle waste emptied because of christmas (when they don't work) and then the snow and the councils refusal to reschedule missed collections. They they refused to empty many bins because the lids wouldn't close.

There were rats everywhere, rubbish strewn down the roads. Fly tipping was going on everywhere, and there were enormous queues at the local dumps. Not good enough seeing they take nearly £2500 a year in council tax.
  • I dont mind missing Bin collection - we live in a small street which if difficult to get down at the best of times, let alone when its icy.

My problem is that we only get our bin collected once every 2 weeks, so we missed in on the Tuesday it snowed. Our council have decided that they wont collect it until its due to be collected again (which is now this coming Tuesday) meaning that our bins wont have been collected for a month by then, and I have nowhere to store all the extra binbags.

Added to that they have closed our local tip, so that the nearest one is now 15 miles away.

People may well get upset as round here the bin bags (no bins) are ripped open by foxes, squirrels etc and now there is household waste scattered over the streets and entrances to properties.
