Why not look at the freely available coverage maps on the mobile broadband companies sites?

There's a site that shows general coverage and can link you to the specific company coverage checkers:

    Site Finder

Click on the link, click on the map, enter your full postcode then hit the Enter key. Look for UMTS technology in the results.

    It's not looking good though.

I used it for my area. Nothing showed until zooming out to 1000 metres when two 'Single operator UMTS technology' came up.

I can use a Vodafone dongle to get my emails and surf the web s..l..o..w..l..y but that's about it!

Were Vodafone one of the two 'Single operator UMTS technology' choices? (You click on the blue triangle on the map for information).

There no blue triangles showing in my area!

However I have tried a populated area nearby and I see what you mean. You have to zoom out to find the base station, then zoom in to 100 metres before clicking on the blue triangle.
  • You would be best off just entering your postcode into all of the individual providers' online coverage checkers to see which offers you the best coverage in your area. Check this online mobile broadband coverage checker tool which lists links to all of the individual providers checker tools.
  • 3 have excellent coverage in the Cumnock/Netherthird/Logan area
