EAGA Warm Front Grants

Has anybody had a Warm Frontand had the work carried out etc?

I have been assessed etc and approved for 2700 grant, I was wondering if anybody has had experience of it? If there's anything extra to pay etc.

I had cavity wall insulation & additional loft insulation done this time last year on the Warmfront scheme.

If someone was having ch installed there's a possibilty they may have to pay something extra over & above the £2700 grant allowable , but the assessor would explain this to them when he does his visit if it were applicable.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • Thanks Cattie.

Ive had the assessor round to say that I get a grant of 2700 for the installation of Gas Central Heating, with five radiators.

Now I am waiting for a plumber type person to come round i think. Does he have a look at what actually needs doing and then, in effect, give me a qoute of how much its likely to cost? I am right in thinking this is how it works?
  • I had the work completed a few weeks ago. I qualified for the £2700 towards central heating. The quoted the total cost of work to be £2820. (This amont apparently included a few hundred pounds for works doen to the property in the past (loft possibly).

So we had to pay £120 towards cost.

The plumbing surveyor guy will come round and assess what will be required (how many rads, where the boiler will go etc.)

You will then get a a quotation sent to you with any customer contribution outlined.

Warmfront weren't that helpful in explaining what would be required but our fitters were really great guys.

I wasn't prepared for he number of pipes that would come off the boiler (about 11)

We chose to have our boiler fitted in the kitchen. Our old cistern was in the airing cupboard in the bathroom, but we wanted to rip this out to make way for he shower cubicle. We have arranged for someone to box the boiler in to match rest of kitchen. As we have laminate flooring in the kitchen they could not put the pipes under the floor. We removed the kickboards under the kitchen units and the fitters ran th pipes underneath there.

On the outside of your house they will probably need to make three holes.

The first is for the steam vent.
The second is a little overflow pipe.
The third tkaes the condensate water away and needs to be connected to your drainpipe or waste pipe.

My house is black lime plasterwork with double skinned red brick so there was a fair bit of dust and debris. So be prepared fo a few days of mess and disruption.

From intial application for the grant to fitting was about eight weeks.

    Hope this helps.

I had a new condensing boiler fitted in Feburary, lovely boiler too, 2 secs turning hot water tap on and hot water. Wireless remote control for temprature timer for boiler. Steam comes out of a outside vent.

It took from October last year until Feb for them to come out and do it though witha dodgy boiler we had.
  • Thanks very much for the info. Its put my mind at rest somewhat. I hope they can move my boiler from the airing cupboard into the kitchen, I can then have a shower cubilcle fitted too!

    Thanks again guys.

My daughter and grandchildren live with me, she claims Child Tax Credit and recently applied for free loft insulation and cavity wall insulation. The company said it did not matter that she was not the owner, she would still get the grant. She also enquired through Warmfront about a central heating grant and was told the Assessor would need to see proof of ownership. What do they need to see, deeds?
