Why cant I be bothered with Christmas this year.?

  • I really don't think the weather has helped. I am less festive-minded than i was now my children are grown and flown but i usually can't wait to get things wrapped, made, written etc. This year it seems like a chore. It doesn't help that one of my friends had done everything by Dec 1st so i feel inefficient! Nothing can be as bad again as the year everything went wrong and i ended up wrapping ALL the presents on Christmas Eve - eldest was then 18, came in and found me sobbing into the wrapping paper and dragged his mate in to help me wrap things! I hope you feel better soon - and its not REALLY Christmas for nearly two weeks so you have time to get your festive mojo back.
  • I must admit I am feeling exactly the same at the moment...I normally love the build-up to Xmas and by this time, I'm more excited than the kids....but I just want it to be over to be honest :( I'm trying hard to be happy for my 2 girls, but I just can't switch off from the list of what I still have to do (and where the money is going to come from). I can't even be bothered to turn the tree lights on half the time...when normally it's the first thing I do!! I hate feeling this fed-up at this time of year, am hoping my Xmas spirit comes back once everything is done!!

Even my cards are behind...organised myself enough to post the overseas one, but still got the UK ones to do!! Argghh!!!

Hugs to everyone who is feeling like this at the moment :)

Hi artydoll, how about finding a christingle service near you? go and join in, watch the childrens faces as they carefully carry the lighted christingle, join in the carols soak in the atmosphere and feel the real christmas. Come home sit down with your favourite tipple, from a nice cup of tea to a single malt, whatever you fancy, play some carols and reminisce with your OH about christmases you have already enjoyed, get out the photo's!! guaranteed to have you laughing or crying!! Both will do you good. Love and hugs from me, wishing you a magical christmas.

Whats up with me this year?
Cant be bothered to put the tree up ,couldn't wait last year cos my room was being decorated and it was taking too long. This year, nothing, not even feeling remotely Chrismassy.
My OH is the same every year, saying its only another day,but this year I think its the other way around,I cant be bothered to drag the box with the tree in down,it took me nearly 2 days last year to put it up and decorate.
I have rheumatoid arthritis and cant stand for long, but this year everything seems to be to much bother .
Dont even want to go out shopping, done most of the shopping online this year.
The weather recently has made me feel down, but why cant I drag myself back up?
Sorry for the winghing but I have no one else to talk to about this :D
Hope your all feeling more in the Christmas spirit,
    XXX

No - I'm not religious so have no Christmas feelings whatsoever. It's not actually genetic to suddenly be merry just because the shops tell you to be.

I'm looking forward to the 21st - the Shortest day though. :j:j:j
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

My poor mum is feeling stressed this year. And being supportive to her and listening ,has put the grinch on my festive emotions. The pressure of consumerist views and pressure to provide my children with certain items. The feeling that I am still paying bits of last year off, never mind having to take more on .All of this contributes to me hating Christmas.
I feel the weather hasnt helped anyone ,or this years stresses on price increases.
Not only have we struggled with the snow and ice and temperature drops. We are worrying about the cost of keeping warm.Cost of food and fuel.
Hopefully we wont have to strain for ever.Meanwhile we will all just have to support each other.

Oh dear.............need bah humbug hat !!
OH slipped on the ice last week and broke his hip/pelvis -not sure which cos hospital not communitcating at all well. Anyway, he's hobbling about but insisting on being independant and walking round mini-suppermarket.
Just had endless battle with hospital to find out when his follow up appt will be...........no-one seemed to know............eventually I found someone who had the papers needed.......appt in 5 weeks time !!! On top of that his legs swelled up from thigh to foot  Rang gp and he says to go and see him tomorrow to have it checked out. Needless to say it all put me in ''panic mode''.
On top of that foster daughter went home and found her two dogs had been scrapping really badly..........one had to go back to rescue centre........she's got loads of bites up her arm and hand so at hospital every day to get them checked for infection..............plus a load of damage done to the furniture and tele she'd just saved up for !

Home delivery chap came today and brought shopping in for us and seems co--op is open on Sunday, usual sunday hours...........so we're just going to treat it as a normal weekend with some pressies thrown in..........that way we don't expect outselves to feel ''festive''.
Oh.......I did put the decorations up........not a lot but enough. Family won't be coming......to be honest it would all be a bit too much at the minute.

Right........moan over.............switch brain into 'positive mode' to enjoy the weekend.:)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
