ok so me and my girlfriend are moving into a new place, and the letting agent has basically taken the !!!!!!! we have met the landlord and he is great he wants us to have his mobile number so we go direct to him etc etc etc.
ok so a long story short the letting agent knows my girlfriend loves this house and he keeps playing on it, addling little costs here and there, then basically taken advantage of the situation we are in, until in the end i turned round to the agent and said "!!!! it! we will back out and loose our signing fee, im preparred to loose the money and take the whole situation as a very expensive lesson!" to which he then played ball and agreed to let us have the property at the advertised price!!!
ok so now what i want is (as childish as it is) get my own back, we are going to sign the contract in 10 days, but when we sign the contract i want to remind him how much he needs me and needs my money! what can i do that will !!!! him off but in an honest way???
I was thinking of taking my time to sign the contract, for example finding out the busy day for them and keeping him with me as much as i can when i get the pen just keep starting a conversation and putting the pen back down or even keep requesting a drink of water? or i was thinking of getting him to read the contract out to me. im defo going to keep asking him the same 5 questions!
all help apreciated!
i just want to remind him that he needs my money and that technically im his boss until i sign the contract? know what i mean?

You're being a child IMO.0

You negotiated away his additional expenses.

I wouldn't be childish about it. However, make sure you read the contract through and there are always a couple of questions that have to be asked about some point somewhere in the contract. At the end of the day you are making a big commitment and a contract is usually at least 10 pages of A4. It should take you about 10 mins to read through this. All in all, if you are in there less than 20 minutes minimum, there is something wrong. All of this will take a lot more time than most contracts take (people don't bother to read properly at the time what they are signing). All of this without taking the !!!!. Also it shows the letting agent that you are serious and that they will have to catch you on a bad day to get away with taking the proverbial!0

The LA acts on behalf of the LL, so just make sure LL is aware what has gone on and why you think it was unfair.0

Let me get this straight, instead of spending your time productively, ensuring you have read and fully understand the legal document you are about to commit yourself to, you're going to play silly !!!!!!s with the pen?
The letting agent is getting paid the same salary whether he sits with you for 5 minutes or half an hour, so I'm not sure why you think he is going to particularly care how long you sit there for asking questions?
Quite frankly you're acting very immaturely. Lets hope your prospective landlord doesn't read this thread.0 -
think what he is saying is he just wants to wind him up a bit the same as the agent did to him, fair play but i wouldnt waste my time really.xnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0

Spend your time forging a productive relationship with the landlord rather than worsening your relationship with the agent.
Assuming the LL has contracted the agent to manage the flat as well as find tenants, you will be dealing with the agent on an ongoing basis, you may need their heklp with repairs, they will be doing periodic inspections etc etc.

Firstly, I don't get how a letting agent will 'add little costs here and there'.
It has an asking price, you pay that price. He can't then say that, for example, its by the best bus stop so that'll be an extra £10pcm can he!
Secondly, stop being so immature. You've got the house, you've got it at the asking price. No more fuss eh?0 -
the agent just kept saying there was a "rental fee" for different features, that i needed to pay the agency not the landlord. my friend told me the best way for to get 1 up is to tell the landlord what the agent is doing. i bit my tongue all the way through the whole thing as my girl really wants the house. all i want to do is tell the agent what i really think of him, and remind him that he needs my money0
