Hello, How would it be best to post a large scalextric set?Is royal mail the best option?

Try Pharos - they're a company who pass your order to UPS, but charge less (a lot less!!) than UPS. You can get a quote online (put in the parcel dimensions and value, for insurance) and sort it online.

Sounds as though it might be quite heavy? Best thing is to trudge up to your local post office and get an accurate price as a starting point then....
....try www.Parcel2go.com - they charge a 'reasonable' rate for parcels which for larger/heavier items does work out cheaper than Royal Mail (I think it is as low as 6.99 but if you place a link in your auction and tell them the auction no. they automatically give you a code for a 10% discount - click here for details)
