I have building & contents with a particular company. With the thaw I have had some internal water damage, could have been worse, although I'll have to wait and see how certain areas dry out?

I of course informed my broker of this mornings events and, the fact I had fixed the problem of water ingress to house.

Lady informed me that company is capping claims up to £1000 max, over this amount policy holder has to cough up.

Me personally, I am hoping I do not have to make a claim at all, however, if I were to claim, and cost for repairs are over the magical £1000 ceiling, is this legal??

When I asked why the £1000 ceiling, I was informed along the lines of some policy holders abusing the recent inclement weather. Surely any spurious potential claims will be investigated for validation by insurnace company, or is it decent honest policy holders suffer because there are dodgy policy holders out there who will do their best to milk the system??

I've had a really busy day today, damage limitation comes to mind, I hope other members are trouble free with this thaw. I myself now know, not to think I am covered, getting more and more like American health insurance!!
