Assuming the Freeview Box is connected to the VCR with a SCART lead, as has been said, you need to select that SCART socket as an INPUT, rather than a TV channel.

On Panasonics this can usually be achieved with the VCR channel up/down (on the remote or the VCR itself) by scrolling Down past 1. As others have said, there's also a button to switch between Channels and Inputs, a broken circle with arrow pointing into it within the break, or marked TV/AV.

The SCART sockets will be marked AV1 AV2 etc on the back of the VCR - look on the VCR display for the one that corresponds to where you have the Freeview Box plugged in.

What's the model number of the Panasonic VCR?

Ok folks, silly question time again.
I bought a dvd recorder a while back and stupidly didn't realise it was an analogue one that didn't want to play with digital tv. So am now thinking of getting a pvr. Never having seen one, can you use them to watch prerecorded dvd's as well as recording and playback directly off the tv? My brother says not, but his technical knowhow is equivalent to mine- ie non-existent.
    Thanks
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

A PVR is a hard disk recorder, it doesn't have a DVD drive-though there are now some on the market that do incorporate DVD drives.
Since most people already have DVD players it would generally be superfluous to incorporate one.
NB: PVR's don't record 'off the TV'. They have their own twin tuners and record directly off a Freeview or Freesat source (depending on the model) plugged directly in.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
