Problems with online shopping with BHS and M&S

Apoligies if this is the wrong place to put this, but i didnt really know where else to put it!

Im having problems with BHS and MandS online.

Firstly BHS.

I ordered several christmas presents from there site early last week. I understand that the post is slow due to the snow, but i had an email from them on saturday saying the items have been dispatched and a tracking number. I just put the tracking number into the companies website and it says not recognized. So i tried to log into my account online and it says my password is wrong (i know its right as i wrote it down) and if i go to the password forgotton security question its a different question to the one i answered, so cant get through that way either  i called them up and they cant reset password etc, and they told me to wait and see if parcel arrived next week!

Marks and spencers -

I ordered an ereader (again for a xmas present) off their site on monday. On thursday i received an email from MandS saying that my credit card had been declined, i checked on my MandS account online (just in case it was a spam email) and this confirmed it had been declined also. I checked my card and there is plenty of money on it. So i called them up and they said the card hadnt been declined and that the order was awaiting dispatch and it must have been a mistake. The money still hasnt been taken from my account though and its still showing as awaiting dispatch online, but with a delievery date of this monday! Just dont know what to do.

Also do the majority of my xmas shopping online and never had any problems before, but at this rate im not going to have anyones presents before xmas. Is anyone else encountering similar problems or am i just being unlucky??

  • I am having similar problems. OK, I do live in Aberdeenshire, but it still shouldn't mean 3 weeks of delays. I always do my shopping online.
La Redoute cancelled an order of mine - apparently my card was declined also (which was rubbish). They didn't tell me and I had to go in to check my order, see it had been cancelled and then email them to ask what happened. After 7 or so days, they told me my card had been declined and to order again. I tried to but none of the items I had ordered were in stock.
A pair of shoes I ordered from Priceless didn't get delivered - I got a really funny email from them to say 'they only had one in stock in my size but it didn't pass their quality control - they pride themselves on offering goods of a great standard to they decided not to send me it'. Meaning they had probably sold out!
I've had a few other non-orders as well. Getting a bit fed up with it. But I have saved so much through codes and offers and it sure beats battling the snow and crowds!

I have also had problems with delivery. Tesco and Play. I ordered several items from each, the ones dispatched first have not arrived but the ones I ordered after, arrived yesterday. The problem is, with Play, you have to wait so long before they will look into it. It said, if I have not received it by 22.12.2010 to inform them but the item is out of stock now. So if I don't receive it by then and even if it did come back in stock, my son will not get one of his presents in time for xmas.

Tesco on the other hand, has a shorter time to report missing items. When I ordered my son's dvd and cd, it stated the items would be dispatched the following day. Not in my case, I have received one out of two items. But still have to wait until next week before I can inform them.

I have never had issues with delivery and online shopping before, so fingers crossed its stuck in the sorting office. Hope we all get our stuff soon.

Well at least its not just me! But sorry others are going through similar. I except the bad weather plays a part (but im on the south coast and weve had no snow since last saturday!) I expected the post to take a while longer due to this and xmas post etc, but the attitude of both companies is terrible too :(

Have visions of people getting email confirmations from me instead of presents this year!

I have now had a email from bhs saying that due to the extreme and severe weather in my area the package will be significantly delayed! There has now been absolutely NO snow here for a whole week and very little ice etc. (appreciate alot of the country still has bad weather, but its fact their blaming weather in MY area!

And marks and spencers sent me an email today with a tracking number and it appears that this product may actually now be on its way (but i wont believe it till i have it!)

Its horrible when your relying on them for xmas presents, ive been put off online shopping for this year now and have done the rest on the high street.
  • It's not just me then - I'm having problems with orders from before the snow and am now being told I can't have them before Christmas or get a refund. See the post below

I thought M&S, Debenhams and SHudoo were bad enough but to top it all I got an email last night from Boots.com re an order placed before the snow to say they have now suspended all deliveries to Scotland until further notice. Not a thing to say I'm getting a refund.

I know these companies can't control the weather but the fact that they are happy to leave people out of pocket is shocking. It's 4 companies I won't be using again - in fact it's 5 - I also have a BHS order.

  • I'm still waiting on a parcel from amazon. Its not amazons fault as I've been able to track the item to Edinburgh delivery office, but its been sitting there for about 10 days now. I have emailed amazon and they're going to chase it up as they agree that it should be out by now. Seems the local offices are dealing with the newer stuff first and the things that didn't get out due to snow are now being left in the backlog. Can't believe how rubbish the services have been during the bad weather, and now that its thawed it hasn't improved at all.
  • I'm also awaiting deliveries :( Had an order dispatched from clarks with home delivery network on Tuesday 30th November, and an order dispatched from The body shop on Friday 3rd December and still no sign of either of them. I have a tracking number for the clarks order and it's been sitting in fife for the past week with no attempt to deliver. I also know that snow has been a real problem around here so have been happy to give it extra time, but as I know other companies have been able to deliver from fife my patience is slowly ebbing away!

  • They are delivering today in my area as i have just had a parcel delivered that has been sitting in Edinburgh since 3rd December so there is still hope.
    :j
Tesco Direct and Asda website are not delivering to Scotland due to the backlog.

Seems like its a widespread problem then. I agree its terrible there quick enough to tske the money but then the products dont turn up and they dont even offer a refund - shocking behavior. If my stuff from BHS doesnt turn up in the next couple of days then i'll have to buy more presents (extra money im going to struggle to find) and then attempt to return the BHS order if it ever appears.
