Jumbled tables when posting to forums

It drives me mad. I sometimes want to place data in a post to a forum. No matther how well I format it on the source- Excel or Word, it comes out all cramped and jumbled in the forum. For example see

Hmm. Looks difficult, as when you submit the post it strips out any extra spaces.
The only workaround I can see is to insert characters where the spaces are -
underscores say - and then change the colour of the underscore chars to white.
Tedious, but it does work.
