Asda took my money twice!

Ordered my shopping on tuesday for wednesday delivery (only because tesco had no slots!).
they took £86 on wednesday which was the amount my shopping came to. My reciept said the same.
Check my bank this morning to find i am overdrawn, bank say its pending with asda.
Phone asda and surprise surprise its tough, i just have to wait for it to drop off. Exactly the same as when they took the money but didnt deliver back in feb with the snow, only this time what right did they have to take the money again 2 days after my delivery?!
A £10 e-voucher and free delivery been put into my asda account - thanks but that wont put gas and electric in my meters or pay my busfares to work etc will it!! They did say theyl refund me any bank charges if i send them a paper statement but again this is no use to me now, itl be january before i get anything back from them.
Im so sick of my money being taken from me, its seems its never safe in my own bank account. Id rather go back to the days of cheques and cash in a tin in the kitchen cupboard
2 weeks before xmas i could really do without this. Just wanted to warn other people, seeing as asda were on watchdog for a similar mishap a few weeks back.
Also really annoyed with the bank for allowing it to be held when there wasnt enough in there! Supposed to be a basic bank account so they shouldnt allow it to go overdrawn

It happens unfortunately, I had the same thing happen with Tesco.
The money was back in my account though within 2 days.
If your bank is a basic account then i would seriously complain to them for letting it happen.
I hope you get it back soon :beer:I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Asda and your financial details should never meet.
However if you persist and kick up calmly but with determination you will eventually get more from them in the way of compensation, start using words like 'fraudulent transaction' and 'anti money laundering regulations', suggest that perhaps the treasury should be taking a very close look at their accounts.
My entire final order with them was written off and given to me for nothing under similar circumstances (with a starting point of a free delivery!!), can't be bothered to catalogue the entire saga, suffice it to say I haven't bought anything from them since.~*~ If you don't need it, it isn't a bargain ~*~0 -
I am new to forums ,I apologise if Im adding to this thread and its a slightly differnt topic .
I always use Tesco home shopping as I have had problems with Asda 's service in the past. However ,due to the recent bad weather Tesco didnt have any delivery slots in my area available.I had my Asda account still open so I booked my groceries with them.( for saturday 4th december 2010 )
All was well ,shopping was all present and correct and delivered in good time.Monday we got a phone call ( she was rather abrupt and quite rude ) saying we owe them payment still and we need to sort it out now ! I told her our payment was processed just fine ,even the visa secure thing that pops up was ok aswell. She said the payment was cancelled .We rang the bank ,they can't understand it,said no problems on there side.We contacted Asda after this and told them what the bank said. The guy on the phone couldn't explain what had happend either and said someone would contact us to sort it out.
Well we never did get a phonecall and my online account has been frozen.
I now have a big problem though ,as to my knowledge the bill was paid ,I was xmas shopping and withdrew what I thought was my money left to spend as like I said we paid for the shopping and I thought it had come out.I never thought for a second we would recieve shopping and it not be paid for.So anyway ,now my account is short of funds to pay for it anyway.I dont know what to do about this, please help .0 -
I wouldnt do anything, what if you pay again and then the original payment comes out? would it go on your credit file if you haven't paid?0

Had this happen with me , I chased them up , the money went out of my account and was back in and the payment was cancelled. Found out the delivering store had cancelled the payment yet delivered the goods.
I have not paid for a delivery , even though I gave them permission to take the money . They have not taken it. If they do now ill be bloody annoyed hense me keeping an eye on my account. My account has also been suspended , though no fault of my own. So let see what happens. Ill stick with tescos from now on , or sainsburys , as asda are poop on toast.ONE HOUSE , DS+ DD Missymoo Living a day at a time and getting through this mess you have created. One day life will have no choice but to be nice to me :rotfl:0 -

it normally 2 working days, but also depends on who u bank with. asda call it a 'black hole', and is actually NOTHING to do with asda, it normally occurs when there has been a problem authorising your sale, so either your card declined for an electrical problem so the card autorisation line may have been down due to the busy period, or the bank may just be on a go slow. Asda have tried to take the money once, and for watever reason it was declined, so they will have tried again, and for what ever reason, the bank c that asda are trying to take funds, so the deduct it twice as two attempts have been made, but honestly, after a couple of days, it wont even be on your statement. When it happened to me, i expected to see if been taken out and then refunded, so i got really upset and panicked, but when i had another look through my statement the payment had only gone out once.
I work for asda on checkouts and this happens all the time.
I hope everything sorts its self out and that chrsitmas is a lovely one for you where you are x0 -
They have also been known to take payments six weeks after the delivery, I speak from personal experience.
