Dripping noise coming from inside the house when it rains

Felt on older roofs has a habit of rotting near to the bottom two tiles (nearest the gutter) This can then cause water to access between the courses and drop down the cavity, it is then hitting the extractor pipe which just happens to be in the way. Even with the tile a bit wonky, the felt should direct water into the gutter. You may well need the 1st run of tiles removing and new membrane added (along with new batton, probably), a roofers job.0

Thank you, I am having a roofer come and take a look tomorrow, he owes me a favour, so I hope it will be something relatively simple.0

The roofer came last week and noticed that a tile had beeb purposefully broken to allow water from the valley to pass by it, the remaining bit left of that tile had cracked and come away. Underneath this tile was the felt which had a hole in it. He replace the felt from one rafter to another and put the tile back on and cemented the gap (as he didnt have any slate/tiles on him). He said even if it got through the gap now it would run off the felt into the guttering. This was a week ago, now today with the snow I have heard that sound again 5 or 6 times today. I know I wont get him to come out and have a look at it for free this time. But surely if more felt has been fitted AND the gap in the tile cemented over surely it cant be this still?
I just cant locate anywhere else the sound could be coming from. The hole in the felt he found was directly above the gap of the cavity wall where the pipe is located.0 -

Have you done the towel test again to see if water is getting in? Could have been that the leak and sound were unrelated?0 -
I havent now as I put the vent back over, but I think i can take some of the slats of the vent off, pop a bit of towel back in and see. Its just annoying me.0

Might be worth a go. Could be pure chance you found a leak when you started looking but the two aren't realated. We have a dripping noise at the moment as our gutters need a clean and rain water is landing on the conservatory.0

I have taken the slats off and popped another bit in there and put the slats back on the vent, now there is no way the towel can get wet other than from the roof.
I just cant see anywhere else the noise can be coming from. When you listen out for it, it seems to be coming exactly from where the extractor fan pipe ends.
The hole in the felt has now been fixed and the tile has been cemented in place filling the crack. I am convinced I have heard it today.
I will wait and see if I hear it constantly and if not I will check the paper towel in a few days and see.0
