Many of the old links on Web Domain Registration and hosting are on the old server and no longer work so I hope it's OK to start a new thread.
I'm urgently looking to register a business website and the following companies have bees suggested:
GoDaddy.com
UKReg.com
HostGator.com
123-reg.co.uk
ukreg.com
Can anyone help me choose the best company, either from the above list or suggest any better companies? Also, are there any forums/groups dedicated to web hosting and development?
Many thanks

As I have posted many times before I use dreamhost. They give you 200GB of space now and 2TB of bandwidth. The actual speed of the server is very good, I host lots of sites and yes, there has been the odd bit of downtime but nothing myself or clients have had a problem with.
(Un?)fortunately this will only do PHP - ASP you'll need to look elsewhere.
As for cost, it's $119 a year - but for the first year you can use a discount code to reduce it to around $20 and get a free domain name to boot. I've setup a code 'DISCOUNTED' which is a referral code and 100% of the discount and my benefits are allocated to you.
At $20 (£12?) for a year it makes a lovely 200GB photo album = )
I recommend 123-reg.co.uk for any UK registered domains - though dreamhost works out cheaper but is less convienent for .com/.net when you want to change DNS.Tim0 -
Many thanks for the replies. Greatly appreciated.
123-reg keeps cropping up as a recommendation. Does anyone have any experience of GoDaddy.com? This has been recommended elsewhre and looks good.
Thanks for the info on WebmasterWorld. Are there any other forums/bulleting boards/discussions specifically for web hosting/creation?
Thanks again

WebmasterWorld seems to cost $89 to even look at the posts. Is there anything else out there that provides a forum to dicsuss web site development?

If you go with GoDaddy use the code DIGG at checkout to get 10% off, they are a long time sponsor of the Diggnation podcast and they seem very happy to recommend them (but then they would!)0
